SensorTower recently released the new year-end report on the most successful apps published across App store and Google Play Store; let’s take a look at the statistic in detail.
Top Non-Game App By Revenue
Netflix get the top spot on overall revenue made me an app in 2017 combining both App Store and Google Play store. Last year Spotify was on the top of the chart, and before that, LINE. It’s not surprising to see Netflix top the chart because they saw a gross subscriber revenue of $510 million which was a 130% more than what they had in 2016.

Top Non-Game App By Download
While comparing the statistic’s of Top Non-Game Apps by downloads. Whatsapp gets the high place by leaping ahead from #3 in 2016 to #1 in 2017 by beating Facebook’s main App. Whatsapp remains the top downloaded App both in App store and Play Store.
Top Game App by Revenue
Monster Strike was the top grossing gaming app in 2017, which held its position for the past three years in a row. However, Honor of Kings gets the top spot based on App Store; it could not make into the top 10 in Play store because China doesn’t have Google Play.
Top Game App by Download
Subway surfers get the top spot in the most downloaded gaming app in 2017. It’s an interesting fact that one time hit Pokemon Go didn’t even make any place on top 10.
Top Mobile Publisher by Download and Revenue
Tencent has a most successful Mobile app Published based on the total gross made by the company in 2017, While Facebook Developer team undoubtedly hold it #1 position for the most downloaded App, followed by Google developer team.
