E3 201811th June 2018, the 3rd day of Los Angeles E3 2018 was jampacked as Square Enix, Ubisoft and Sony were the presenters.
1. Square Enix
Square Enix, the first presenter at E3, didn’t have much to showcase as most of their titles such as the Awesome Adventures Of Captain Spirit, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Just Cause 4 were revealed previously. However, they did announce two new titles.
i) The Quiet Man
The Quiet Man is an experimental game with a deaf protagonist. The trailer was a mixture of live action and CGI, presenting the protagonist beating up a few thugs. The game will also be a mixture of Live Action and CGI. More details to be revealed in August.
ii) Babylon’s Fall
Babylon’s Fall is a game by Platinum, the people behind games like Bayonetta, Vanquish and Nier: Automata. Not much can be said about the game itself except that it’ll be an action game set way back in the past and will feature heavy lore and dark fantasy setting.
Other announcements by Square Enix at E3.
- A new trailer of Final Fantasy XIV’S new update called “Under the Moonlight”.
- A new of Dragon Quest XI and a teaser for Octopath Traveler.
That was the end of Square Enix’s presentation. No a word about the Final Fantasy VII Remake, Enix’s most anticipated game at E3, was spoken.
i) Just Dance 2019
Just Dance 2019 will release on October 5, 2018, on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and even Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.
ii) Assassin’s Creed Odessey
Assassin’s Creed Odessey was one of the most anticipated games at E3. It is set in Ancient Greece, hundreds of years before Assassin’s Creed Origins. You can play as either a man or a woman and sail the ancient world on a ship. You can also choose the dialogue options which will decide the outcome of the story. The rest of the gameplay is pretty similar to Assassin’s Creed Origins. It releases on October 5, 2018, on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
iii) Skulls and Bones
Skulls and Bones is an online Naval Combat game. You sail the Indian Ocean as the captain of your customized ship and command the crew. You can play solo or with friends in co-op mode. The objective is to loot the Merchant ships of the British, Spanish and the Portuguese, which are all controlled by AI. Additionally, you can also attack other players’ ships for loot.
iv) Beyond Good & Evil 2
Beyond Good & Evil, 2 is a game for which people have waited for over 15 years. Only a cinematic trailer was showcased at E3 2018 from which very few details could be understood. However, it’s clear that there is a vast open world, a big spaceship which acts as your base and a smaller spaceship which acts as your vehicle. Moreover, the protagonist of the first game, Jade, is confirmed to make an appearance, probably as a villain.
Other announcements by Ubisoft at E3.
- Trials Rising, the sequel to the crazy bike platforming game Trials will release in February 2019. It will be available on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
- A new trailer of Division 2 showcased. Moreover, the game will have raids and free DLC.
- A Donkey-Kong DLC for Mario+Rabbids was announced.
- A new VR horror game called Transferrence by Ubisoft is coming out this fall. It can be also played on scree.
- Starlink: Battle For Atlas is another game born out of the partnership between Nintendo and Ubisoft. It will feature Star Fox and will release on October 16 for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
- For Honor got a new DLC in which 4v4 players play. One team defends the castle while other tries to breach the castle.
Sony introduced a promising line of exclusives back at E3 2016. They announced more details about the same titles next year. This year was a lot similar, with new details on previously announced games and a few new games and announcements.
i) The Last of Us Part II
Sequel to the immensely popular The Last of Us, an action-driven title with a heartfelt story, is The Last of Us Part II. It features Ellie as the main protagonist, who is all grown up and lesbian. The gameplay looks promising and graphics look amazing even in a grim environment.
ii) Ghost of Tsushima
Another title announced previously, a short gameplay of Ghost of Tsushima was showcased. It is an open world samurai game that takes place in Japan during the Mongolian invasion. The trailer was full of serene and picturesque of feudal Japan. The combat seemed promising and based on dodge and hit mechanism.
iii) Death Stranding
An 8-minute long ‘Teaser’ of Death Stranding, the latest game by Hideo Kojima was shown. It looks amazing but makes as little sense as the first teaser did 2 years ago.
A new gameplay trailer of Spiderman was revealed. It featured not one but 5 prominent villains in a prison break sequence. The game looks amazing but nobody knows when it will release.
Once all the details of the old games were revealed, it was time for new games, a rather small line-up.
Control is developed by Remedy, the studio who made Quantum Break. Not much could be said about the game except for the fact that it looks quite similar to quantum break with added features.
The last game at Sony’s E3 conference was Déraciné, a PS VR exclusive developed by From Software, the studio behind souls series and Bloodborne. The game looked very different from an average game by From Software but it looks eerily promising.

- Resident Evil 2 remaster will release on January 25, 2019
- Kingdom Hearts III will have Pirates of the Caribbean world.
- Nioh 2 was announced.
That called the third day of E3 to an end. Tomorrow, Nintendo will be the sole presenter on the last day of E3.
