Planning to watch a movie just got a bit easier with the new update to the Google search. Through the upgrade, Google intends to provide all the information regarding the film in a single search result.
With our latest update rolling out today, you can quickly compare movies by the factors you care most about—ratings, showtimes, theater location and more—all from the same view – Haimin Lee (Product Manager)
The new layout is a lot more intuitive and makes it easier to compare different venues, their showtimes, the travel distance, etc. The user can also see the movie’s rating on IMDB, and it’s Rotten Tomatoes score which helps many people decide whether they would enjoy the film or not. Apart from this, the new sorting options are great as you can sort movies by their critic’s rating or genre, timing, and languages in which they are available.
After deciding on a movie and theater, you can also book the tickets by clicking on the showtime which then redirects you to the official website of the cinema where you can book the ticket. In my opinion, this part can be improved upon as after being redirected to the movie booking website you have to re-choose the movie and the timing of when you want the ticket.
To try this out, search for “showtimes,” “movies” or movie timings in your city. This feature is available in the Google search for mobile browsers and the google search app on Android. Google is planning to release it on iOS soon.
