Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has joined the digital voice assistant market where there is already a stiff market competition from giants like the Amazon Echo, Google Assistant, Apple HomePod and more.
Alibaba’s Tmall Genie seems to be a direct competitor to Echo voice assistant. Tmall Genie features the AliGenie voice assistant.
Ok. Tmall Genie skills
Tmall Genie, the Amazon Echo-like smart speaker, offers much of the same functionality as the Echo, including news, smart home control (such as Tmall Box, air conditioner, and air purifiers.), music, weather, and a wide range of other skills like what Alexa and Google Assistant does.
You can be used to saying “Alexa” or “Ok Google” but Alibaba’s voice assistant is activated by saying “Tmall Genie” in Mandarin.
Tmall Genie can order items from Tmall, Alibaba’s world shopping site, through voice commands; furthermore, it has voiceprint recognition which works smart to ensure that only authorized users can place orders. This can be one step beat to Echo.
The product cost roughly $73.39. It’s far more affordable than Apple’s Home Pod ($349), Google Home ($129), and Amazon Echo ($230). Interested customers can sign up here and wait for the first release which is set to ship on July 17th.
