HTC U12+ VS One Plus 6 | Flagship Battle

HTC launched its new flagship phone HTC U12+ today. The specs of the phone were leaked a day earlier, and the final specs aren’t much different. To be brief, the specs are 6 GB of ram, 128 GB of onboard internal Storage, a 6 Inch Quad HD+ LCD Display, a 3500mAh battery to keep the phone powered up, a dual camera setup, a fingerprint scanner and HTC’s beloved Boomsound speakers. The phone also features a dual front camera setup. But perhaps the most exciting feature about it is the lack of side buttons. HTC U12+ uses pressure-sensitive technology for its side buttons and provides haptic feedback when clicked instead of a mechanical one.

However, there is a hefty price tag that comes along with it. HTC U12+ starts at $799, which is roughly Rs. 54,600. On the other hand, One Plus 6 is a worthy rival that has a much lower price tag. It starts from Rs. 34,999 for the 6 GB ram and 64 GB storage variant and Rs. 39,999 for the 8 GB ram and 128 GB storage variant.

Other specs on the One Plus 6 include a dual lens camera setup with 16 MP and 20 MP lens, a 19:9 screen ratio with a notch like that of the iPhone X, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU with 3300 mAh battery to keep things powered up. The phone also features face id which can be used to unlock the phone, although a fingerprint sensor is also provided if you like to go old school.

The HTC U12+ is a good phone, but looking at its sloppy form factor and average features accompanied by a hefty price tag, it may not survive the harsh smartphone market. Even as a consumer, I do not find it wise to spend such an enormous sum of money when you could get the same features, if not better, in the One Plus 6 at a much lower price tag.
